Don earned his Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Oregon State University and worked at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. As a mechanical engineer, Don has a thorough understanding of complex systems and mathematics, which serves him well as an investment analyst. An engineer is trained to view problems unemotionally, also vital for the successful investor.
He applied his engineering discipline to investments successfully and soon was asked to offer financial education classes at Portland Community College. In his classes, Don presents both fundamental and highly technical investment concepts. He gives detailed explanations of various asset allocation models, and stresses the need for a disciplined approach to investing. He helps students develop their own investment strategies, suited to their short-term and long-term goals. Don currently manages diversified investment portfolios and retirement plans for individuals and small businesses.
